Community Affliations
Whether in music, gaming, or education, Veronica is deeply involved in communities that celebrate culture, elevate underrepresented voices, and push for meaningful change. Her work spans from championing visibility for Black femmes in brass to facilitating intentional dialogue within the Blerd community. Chromatic Brass Collective
B.L.A.D.E
2020 - present Performance Member, Bass Trombone
2020 - 2022 Director of Community Development, Board of Directors
The Chromatic Brass Collective, founded by Black women, is an organization for brass musicians that celebrates, performs, mentors, and educates in an effort to increase the visibility of racially and ethnically underrepresented women and gender non-conforming people throughout the brass world. We envision a musical landscape led by community and empathy in a world free of systemic hierarchy, where women and gender non-conforming brass musicians of color have boundless opportunities for personal and professional growth. Through an intersectional approach to performance, access, community, connection, and recognition, CBC is altering the world’s idea of what a brass player can be!
Veronica joined the collective as a performance member, debuting with CBC in 2022 at the International Women's Brass Conference in Denton, Texas. This performance marked a historic moment as CBC became the first BIPOC-centric ensemble dedicated to uplifting women and femmes in brass. In addition to her role as a performer, Veronica also served as the Community Development Director, focusing on deepening the internal community’s engagement through curated speaker sessions, facilitated discussions, and breakout spaces aimed at fostering connection, healing, and empowerment within the collective.
